If your child has any health needs, require medication, or anything else that may affect their wellbeing during the year, our First Aid Officer needs to made aware.
We offer a First Aid service for illness or accidents that occur during school that may impact your child. The main role of the First Aid Officer is to assess your child’s concern, attempt to relieve symptoms and encourage the possibility of staying at school. If required, we will contact the parent and or call for medical assistance.
Students with medical issues must provide Timbarra P-9 College with a current Action Plan or Management Plan along with any relevant medication that is required.
Students with:
Asthma
- Must have a current Asthma Action Plan
- Provide Timbarra P-9 College with a reliever puffer and spacer
Allergies
- Must have a current Action Plan for Allergic Reactions or Action Plan for Drug Allergy
- Provide Timbarra P-9 College with relevant medication
Anaphylaxis
- Must have a current Action Plan for Anaphylaxis
- Provide Timbarra P-9 College with their own adrenaline device
Timbarra College does not carry any medication for students. If your child requires medication for any reason, this must be provided by families and an Authority to Administer Medication Form must be filled in.
Finally, if your child is unwell, they must stay home. We understand the difficulties that families can experience when trying to take time off to care for an ill child at home, however, to help stop the spread of illness to students and staff, and to aid your child’s recovery, rest at home is the best option.
