Friday
Timbarra P-9 College is committed to a traffic safety education program for students and Bike Education is a core component of the school’s Health and Physical Education curriculum. The program aims to improve riding skills as well as reinforce traffic safety.
The day consists of 2 Sessions.
Session 1 is a revision session, going through some rules and required skills.
Session 2 is going for a ride on the bike tracks surrounding our school and finishing with a picnic lunch at Kirsty Lottkowitz Reserve. This will be a one-day program run by: Mr. Stefan Ciccarelli, with classroom teachers assisting.
Equipment
We strongly encourage children to bring their own bike to use for the day.
Ideally students should be using their own bikes and helmets which are already suited to their body size. For your child’s safety we need to ensure that our school is complying with and fulfilling all DET and legal requirements. Therefore if you wish for your child to use their own bike and helmet, a quick inspection will be done on the day. Please note that if your child’s bike and / or helmet are considered unsafe then they will not be allowed to use it.
We do understand that it may be impossible for all the students and their families to get their bikes to school for Bike Ed.
Bike Storage- Bikes and helmets are to be stored in the stadium side foyer room. This will save congestion in the Bike Shed.
The Track- A Map is attached to this event. We do not cross any roads.
Meals
Recess- will be had at school as per normal.
Lunch- All lunches will be placed in a tub and will be driven to the park. We will eat at the park, all together, before returning back to school. Please note: Zooper Doopa icy poles will be available for students to have during picnic lunch at the park. Please advise your teacher if you do not want your child to have an icy pole.
