Visual Arts are so important because it gives students the freedom to:
voice their ideas
voice their feelings
use and express their imagination and creativity
We are very fortunate at Timbarra College with Art because every child has the opportunity to:
receive a lesson of Art each week which runs for one hour
have access to a very large room and very well resourced room
share and celebrate their work
Through the implementation of the Victorian Curriculum, the students learn as an artist and audience member to explore, practise and create using a variety of media such as drawing, painting, collage, construction, modelling and textiles.
In Art, we also use the Technology Process. This is where we will work in a unit of work as a project over a whole term using an inquiry based approach.
The very first formal biennial Primary Art Show which was held at the end of 2021 was a great success. The theme was animals and the concept was to go on a “Wonderfully Wild” journey around the world visiting different habitats and the various animals that live there. All students spent a great deal of time designing, creating and helping display their artworks. The main feedback from the students afterwards was a great sense of appreciation of and pride in showcasing and celebrating their own creative work as well as the work of their classmates, friends, siblings and other year levels.
