The Performing Arts curriculum is Music, Dance and Drama.
Through the Performing Arts students are free to use and express their imagination and creativity. They can voice and follow their own learning styles, ideas, feelings and interests.
Through the implementation of the Victorian Performing Arts Curriculum students learn as an artist, audience member and through making and responding.
Students participate in one hour lessons weekly.
Years Prep, 1, 2, 3 and 4 lessons incorporate a range of music, dance and drama activities.
Years 5 and 6 music lessons provide students with the opportunity to use a wide range of contemporary electric and acoustic instruments as well as music creation technology.
Years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 have the opportunity to participate in the Primary Choir.
Year 6 students also have the opportunity to participate in the Timbarra P-9 College Young Warriors Music Academy.
From Year 2 upwards the students have the opportunity to have extra-curricular music lessons during school time with a private company called PMI – Primary Music Institute. PMI offers keyboard, guitar and vocal lessons.
We value the opportunity for students to participate in the Performing Arts. Students have the opportunity to celebrate and perform their work through:
Buddy class performances.
Australian Ballet STEAM Dance performances.
To complement and support the Performing Arts Timbarra P-9 College:
Is a Musical Futures Australia Champion School.
Is participating in the Australian Ballet STEAM Dance program.
Uses Alpha Shows live musical theatre performances as a stimulus for drama performances.
